engenie is an engineering practice working across clean energy and environmental justice, particle accelerators and high-energy physics, and new product development. We help individuals, startups, and established companies move from idea to working product, with the technical research and analysis to navigate hard problems along the way. We believe engineering should do more than function, it should improve lives, strengthen communities, and respect the environments in which it operates.

our vision

engenie exists to empower the innovation that moves us toward clean energy and a more just, sustainable future. We work alongside the people building that future to help bring ideas for positive impact to fruition.

We envision a clean energy transition that serves as a powerful catalyst for social and environmental justice. We work to dismantle systemic inequities and ensure that the tangible benefits of progress actively uplift the communities that have been historically underserved and overburdened.

This vision is the compass for our work. It shapes every project we take on, guaranteeing we dedicate our technical expertise to solutions where technology acts as a lever for equity, restoring both our communities and our shared planet.

Jacob McNevin, founder

Jake founded engenie to help bring creative ideas to fruition and to point creativity toward confronting climate change. He holds a Master of Engineering in Energy Systems from the University of Illinois and spent over a decade leading teams that built first-of-a-kind particle accelerators and radioisotope production labs, growing companies from a few people to a few hundred. He is climate advocate in California, and often found in its waters or woods.
